Start with an on-shore safety briefing and gear fit, then move onto the calm waters of Lake Warner for hands-on instruction. We’ll teach efficient paddle mechanics and boat control, demonstrate each skill, and give you plenty of time to practice at your pace so you leave confident and comfortable on flatwater.

Who This Trip Is For
Perfect for first-time paddlers or anyone seeking a refresher on technique and safety. You should be comfortable in and around the water and ready for light activity at an easy, conversational pace—no prior kayaking experience required.
Location & Route
Where: Lake Warner, Hadley, Massachusetts (Western MA). Setting: Sheltered flatwater with protected coves and gentle shoreline—an ideal “classroom” for skill development. Session Flow: Safety and outfitting → stroke demos and drills → guided practice in calm zones → brief recap and next-step recommendations.
