Overview

So, you’ve decided to step into the vertical world! The intro to rock program is a novice level class that will invite you to step outside your comfort zone and help build confidence while climbing outdoors. We will be covering the appropriate steps needed from the ground up which includes helmet/harness school, knots, language, and movement on the wall. Our Climbing Instructors understand that working up at heights can be intimidating which means they will take their time supporting and teaching the fundamentals of climbing and belaying at a pace that’s comfortable for you.

Topics Covered

  • Crag etiquette and LNT (Leave No Trace) principles.
  • Helmet/ Harness school.
  • Climbing commands and language.
  • Climbing knots.
  • Belay school (if appropriate for group).
  • Movement on the wall.

  • Curiosity
  • Interest in learning
  • Entry level climbe

What's Included?

  • AMGA/PCIA certified instructor.
  • All climbing gear for the day.

What to Bring

  • Personal clothing appropriate for the weather. There is a fair amount of standing around, so consider bringing layers to stay comfortably when you’re not climbing.
  • Lunch, snacks, water.

Other Notes:

  • We do not supply climbing shoes
  • this is a four-hour course
  • The specific locations are spread across various areas in Western Massachusetts and will be emailed after registration.

Waiver:
Each participant, or their guardian, must sign a waiver to participate in an Adventure East experience. Following payment of your online booking, your reservation confirmation will include a link to e-sign the waiver. Due to insurance requirements, we are unable to accommodate guests who do not sign a waiver.
